 General

  • Through a highly successful throwing and catching session initiated by Freddie Fit, purchasing the appropriate equipment has been beneficial to the pupils. They now have access to a wider range of self- sustaining activities around these key skills helping to keep them motivated and enthusiastic.
  • In preparation for a greater push in key stage 2 athletics and being able to successfully participate in Inter school competitions, this equipment is now readily accessible for games lessons. A drop session was organised for staff to experience how the equipment is used resulting in classes using the equipment as a entry point for the whole school topic on the Olympics.
  • The school grounds have been clearly mapped, CPD training has now taken place in orienteering which has meant that pupils are now accessing this in a cross-curricular manner and having lots of fun in the process.  This is clearly self sustaining and will be monitored through lesson drop ins and pupil voice.
  • As always Freddie Fit sessions are a hit with the pupils. Pupil voice clearly shows they would like this to continue.
  • Lunchtime incidents have continued to fall due to the wide variety of sporting activities on offer to the children.  This has also helped to increase pupils' Sport and PE participation and had a positive impact on attainment evidenced in PE and Games lessons.

Impact and sustainability

  • In an effort to monitor sustainability, PE Theme Team meet regularly to ensure sharing of good practice and implementation of new initiatives are taking place.
  • Action Plans are monitored half termly in an effort to ensure everything PE related is on track.
  • The use of OTRACK is now in place to monitor the attainment and progress of  PE and Sport on pupils.  These are updated termly.
  • See below data for Year 2015/ 2016.
