Remembrance 2018
To commemorate the centenary of WW1, Bowker Vale were invited to decorate a soldier at Manchester Central Library. Each class produced pieces of art, while year 6 carried out soldier research and produced a piece of writing. Hibah, Grace and Mat attended the library to put the soldier together. It was a creative, fun project to be involved in! The soldier, along with others, will be at Manchester Central Library until early December then it will be ours to proudly show at Bowker Vale.
Year 6 and School Council walked up to the Meadow in Blackley Forest to meet Dot and other local people who come together each year to remember those soldiers who have lost their lives. We lay our wreath on our remembrance bench, shared some poems, did the 1 minutes silence at 11am and heard the Last Post eulogy. It was a very respectful and proud morning where all of our children made us all feel very proud.
On the 9th of November, year six had a visit from Mrs Brockbank, who came to share her family's war experiences.
