Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Bowker Vale Primary School seeks to develop the full potential of each child, recognising the uniqueness of each individual. We promote and celebrate a love of learning with high aspirations for all. For some children additional help or support may be needed and a Special Educational Need or Disability may be identified.

If you have any concerns about your child's learning or progress, or think they may have a special educational need then please speak to their class teacher, who will then pass your concern onto to the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCo).

Bowker Vale's SENDCo is Mrs Jen Griffin, who can be contacted on 0161 740 5993, at j.griffin@bowkervale.manchester.sch.uk  or by making an appointment at the school office.

Lots more information can be found in our SEND Information Report 202here or in our SEND Policy here.

There is also a lot of useful information about local services and provision within Manchester at Manchester's Local Offer here.

The Smallest Things Prem Aware Award.

We are really pleased to hold the Prem Aware Award!

As a school we completed their training and made changes to some of our procedures in school to help us put the best provision into place to support the learning and development of children born prematurely.

We are committed to

  • ongoing training for staff to make sure we are aware of and use the best strategies to help all children develop and make progress in their learning
  • asking our families about their child's birth history and sharing this information sensitively
  • asking our families about the support their child receives regularly and working with parents / carers to towards the best outcomes.
