Boys Football

We have done it again! The Co-Operative Academy has been holding a football competition over the last few years, and since the tournament began, Bowker Vale has won each and every one! This is now the fifth time we have won it. A magnificent achievement.

The boys played extremely well, working as a team, and supporting each other along the way. Our group matches saw us win 1-0 and 2-0, which meant we had qualified for the final.

In the final, Bowker Vale were on top, but couldn't find the breakthrough, which meant that the game would go to penalties....again!

We held our nerve and won a very close competition. Thank you to the Co-Op, who yet again held a very good competition, and allowed the boys to tour the school as part of their open evening.

We entered the Manchester United tournament and showed great teamwork. Despite a slow start, where we lost 1-0, we regrouped to perform at the level that we know we can. Our following results showed this winning 1-0, 2-0, drawing 0-0, before what the United coaches described as the performance of the day, a 4-0 victory with top class performances all over the pitch.

We finished second and just missed out on qualifying. Well done everyone.

The Manchester Schools football tournament took place at Our Lady's school, so it wasn't a long journey for us. We had an impressive afternoon winning all of our matches and not conceding a goal! Samir didn't have a save to make in the entire tournament! Our first game was a 2-0 victory, but we had our usual slow start. After that it was full steam ahead with 3-0, 6-0 and 3-0 wins. The boys worked hard as a team and supported each other well. Excellent! Our next week resulted in more good performances, winning 3-0 and 4-1. The team have really played well together, encouraging each other to try our best.

The Manchester City tournament saw us spend most of the day playing next to the Etihad stadium. Again we had what is becoming our usual slow start losing the first game. However from that point on, there were some terrific performances including a 4-0 victory over the North Manchester champions. We ended the day having played 7 matches, winning 5, drawing once and only losing our first game. Well done everyone!
