Computing

Computing is led by Mr Myatt at Bowker Vale.

At Bowker Vale we have used The National Centre for Computing Education Teach Computing scheme to launch our Computing curriculum.  We have developed a progression framework and produced all the classroom materials to support the children and provide them with high quality computing lessons.

Flip the Lid

At Bowker Vale we use laptops and iPads so that children can practice digital skills over time.  However, we also show the children that there are many aspects of computer programming that can be done offline.  We encourage the children to find and solve errors in algorithms on paper, create posters to promote internet safety and write messages to friends in class to understand how information travels through the internet.  In doing this we aim to provide our children with a deeper understanding of the digital world.
