After our visit for the schools open day we were very impressed. I've had two children attend Bowker Vale , one who has gone onto high school and doing very well academically. The other still attends the school and has settled and mostly happy.
I was very impressed with how organised the school is and how interactive the teaching sessions are. After visiting most classes on the open day it was like walking through a time-line. Going from early year right up to year six you could see just how well the children progress and develop their skills.
I was particularly impressed with the reception class and the amount of enthusiasm than goes into the teaching. Also I was very impressed by the year six class. Where there was relaxing music on in the back ground and children were practicing their hand writing and seemed to work very independantly.
All staff were very welcoming and smiling and the children guiding the tours were extremely polite, knowledgeable and happy.
Thank you for allowing the time for parents to come and explore how the children learn on a daily basis, it was fantastic.

I just want to say that Mrs Heald and Bev provide an excellent service through there support to both parents and children. I have used there service several times and we are really lucky that we can access their service. From Peer massage, reflexology, support for breavement or family problems they can help families and children. Mrs Heald and Bev have been really supportive to my family. Thank you for your help.

I was recently asked by a neighbour whether I would recommend Bowker Vale Primary School for her daughter. Without hesitation I said YES. I told my neighbour that my children have spent 9 happy years at Bowker Vale and that the school is excellent. I feel that the teaching standards are very high, and lessons are packed with knowledge and fun. I also think that the extra curricular sessions during school hours and out of school hours also contributes highly to the children's progress and confidence. The school also runs many courses for parents to help them help their children in subjects such a literacy and maths. In recent years, there has been a lot of investment to the facilities within school, and the outdoor areas which the children of all ages benefit from greatly. Communication between teachers and parents works well at home time and the head teacher and deputy head are also always present at the start and end of the day, for parents to talk too.
The school also has a fantastic team of well being support teachers, who provide additional support to children and parents/carers. My children have had several years of support from the team, including friendship building, coping strategies for anxiety, relaxation techniques and self-confidence building. The sessions are always fun and taken at the pace the children are comfortable with. The teachers are very sensitive to an individuals needs and tailor sessions to suit them. This is an invaluable service, and my children have gained so much from them.
The well being team also supports parents/carers offering a wide variety of help including, physical and mental health advice, emotional support, finance advice, relaxation techniques, aromatherapy, massage sessions, child physical and emotional advice, behaviour techniques, and so much more. I have been supported by the team for several years and again they have been invaluable to me. They were there for me to talk to when I had nobody else to speak too. I am very thankful for all their time, hard work and commitment.
My children are moving on to high school in September, and their new schools have a lot to live up to if they are to be any match to Bowker Vale.
